Hurricane Harvey wreaked historic devastation on the Houston and Southeast Texas areas with torrential rain and devastating winds causing catastrophic flooding and destruction. In a four day period, many areas received more than 40 inches of rain.
With nineteen offices in Houston, Capital Title employees and their family members were directly impacted and needed emergency assistance as quickly as possible as they were evacuated from their homes. Many of them left behind and lost every single thing they owned as they rushed to safety from the flood.
With the direction of our COO, Tracy McMahon, Capital Title leaders immediately sprang into action and formulated a plan to collect and directly distribute money and emergency supplies. Employees in regions not affected by Harvey showcased their enormous empathy and gigantic giving spirits as they generously donated much-needed items for their co-workers and their families in the affected offices and areas.
Employees reached out to other employees “heart-to-heart”. Offices in the regions became collection centers for donations and their office staff volunteered to organize and pack the donations collected from all over the DFW, Austin, and San Antonio areas. Many included handwritten cards and notes of support and encouragement with the supplies sent down. Truckloads full of donations were driven down to the Houston and Beaumont-Orange areas to be distributed.
Then they got to work – actual construction work. Capital Title employees showed up to help remove debris that was once treasured household furniture, mementos, and other belongings that was now ruined. Offices were gutted in preparation for rebuilding and reopening. The work continues and will for a long time to come.
Capital Title will come back stronger than ever because we are Texas based and Texas Strong. Thank you to our employees and the communities in which we serve for all your continued support.
A donation fund has been established to aid and benefit team members who have been affected by the hurricane. Capital Title Owner, Bill Shaddock, has pledged to match dollar for dollar all donations up to $50,000.
Please keep your fellow Southeast Texas Team Members and their families in your prayers.
