Empowering Excellence: Inside Capital Title’s Escrow Officer Training Program
At the heart of our company’s commitment to growth and excellence lies a passion for education and professional development. Leading the charge is Allison Mayo, Capital Title’s Vice President of Escrow Growth & Development, who has designed and implemented a comprehensive Escrow Officer Training Program that equips new and experienced professionals alike with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to succeed.
In a recent conversation, Allison shared valuable insight into how the program was created, what makes it unique, and how it continues to elevate escrow standards across the company. Her vision centers on building strong, well-prepared escrow teams who deliver exceptional service and uphold the company’s reputation for excellence in every transaction.
What is the purpose of the program?
The Escrow Officer Development Program was created to provide comprehensive, hands-on training in every aspect of the escrow process– procedures, compliance, and real-world problem-solving. Our goal is to equip escrow assistants with the knowledge and confidence they need to transition successfully into full escrow officer roles while maintaining Capital Title’s high standards of service and accuracy.
Why is it needed?
In our industry, there’s often a gap between assisting with transactions and being ready to lead them independently. This program closes that gap by offering structured education, mentorship, and real-world application. It ensures that our future escrow officers not only understand the mechanics of closing but also the reasoning and regulations behind each step. It’s about developing true professionals who can deliver consistent, exceptional service to our clients.
What do you learn from the program?
Participants gain an in-depth understanding of escrow operations, from title commitments and contracts to payoffs, closings, and post-closing procedures. They also learn about compliance, communication, and customer service excellence. Beyond technical knowledge, we emphasize leadership, professionalism, and decision-making, so graduates leave the program prepared to manage transactions and clients with confidence.
How long is the program from start to finish/graduation? How much time does it take?
The program runs for one year from start to finish. It includes a combination of structured classroom instruction, guided practice, and on-the-job application. Students meet regularly for live training sessions and complete practical assignments that reinforce what they’ve learned in real-world escrow scenarios.
In-person or online?
The program is presented in a blended format. We meet primarily online through Microsoft Teams for live instruction, discussions, and case studies. However, participants also complete in-person learning and mentorship within their local offices, allowing them to apply lessons directly to their day-to-day work. Participants meet in person quarterly as well.
When did the program begin?
The program officially launched in February 2025, and it has continued to evolve with each session.
Who is eligible?
The program is open to escrow assistants and team members within Capital Title who have demonstrated strong performance, commitment, and the desire to advance their careers. It’s ideal for those who are ready to take the next step toward becoming licensed escrow officers.
How to apply?
Interested team members can submit their application when the 2026 applications are circulated. Once approved, participants are enrolled in the 2026 program. We intentionally keep class sizes small to ensure individualized attention and mentorship throughout the program.
In summary, Allison had this insightful comment:
This program is more than a training course; it’s an investment in our people and our future. By developing our escrow talent internally, we’re strengthening our company culture, building consistency across our offices, and creating clear pathways for professional growth. Watching participants gain confidence and step into leadership roles has been one of the most rewarding parts of this initiative.
